Labour MP Brian Donohoe has blasted North Ayrshire Council plans to deal with illegal Traveller encampments as “not good enough”.

Last week, cabinet members agreed on a revised policy that will see a temporary job role created to deal with complaints and other issues arising from the encampments.

A Traveller Encampment Officer will be funded to the tune of £33,542 per year, paid for by the council’s housing services’ general fund.
