Around 20 caravans pulled on to Fowlers Park in Park Village on Wednesday night.
The caravans, along with dozens of vehicles, were set up on a football pitch.
It was also reported that some members of the travelling community were riding motorbikes across the pitches.
Council officers and police visited the site today and ordered the group to move on by Monday – or face enforcement action.
