A parish council is seeking advice from the top of Essex Police following a shooting on a nearby Travellers’ site.
Stapleford Abbotts Parish Council has expressed concern for residents after the incident in Goatswood Lane, Navestock, last Tuesday.
In a meeting earlier this week, councillors John Farren and Kelly Stokes announced that they will be inviting Essex Police and Crime Commissioner, Nick Alston, to the village for a meeting.
Councillors said that they wish to raise various concerns over the Navestock site, which is situated close to the popular golf course.
Despite concerns for people living in the area Stapleford Abbotts Parish Council refused to speak to the Guardian over the action which they plan to take, for fear of reprisals from the travelling community.
A councillor, who did not wish to be named, stated that as there were only six members of the council, whose addresses are listed publically, and therefore the council would not be making a statement.
The search for suspected gunman, 27-year-old Frances O’Donoghue intensified earlier today as the glazier was named as Essex’s most wanted man.
Two men in their 20s are still receiving medical care and police protection after being shot over what police claim to be a feud between neighbours.
Anybody who spots O’Donoghue is warned not to approach him as he is suspected to be carrying a firearm. Police officers in Essex, Hertfordshire and London are currently searching Travellers’ sites for him.
