A removal order will be served on Travellers encamped at Nowton Park.
Nine caravans moved to park last Friday lunchtime after being issued with an order to leave Holywater Meadow.
The Travellers drove into the car park and set up an illegal encampment on the left hand side.
A spokesperson for St Edmundsbury Borough Council said a section 77 removal order will be issued.
The Travellers have spent six days at the car park running up parking charges of £12 per vehicle. If they leave by 10am on Monday as the order requires their parking bill will have reached £22 per vehicle.
If the order is not complied with the council will go to Magistrates’ Court to request a section 78 order.
The authority is currently investigating the viability of applying for pre-emptive injunctions to protect sensitive sites where occupation cannot be tolerated.
