Travellers move onto field near Grimsby Crematorium - Lincolnshire

From the Grimsby Telegraph

A FAMILY of Travellers have moved onto a field opposite Grimsby Crematorium.

They are believed to have moved on to the patch of land – opposite the playing fields at Oasis Academy Wintringham, in Weelsby Avenue – on Thursday night.

A spokesperson for the group said they were previously based on land near Morrisons, at Laceby, and have no plans to leave the area.

The camp consists of about six caravans, Transit vans and pick ups.

Councillor Chris Shaw, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “The law allows the council to move people on when they set up camp on land without permission. This is the most effective legal course of action available to us and we will continue to follow this policy whenever there is an unauthorised encampment on council-owned land.”
