New Traveller and Gypsy sites pitches across the Maldon district will be concentrated in just eight of its 30 parishes.
Maldon District Council’s (MDC) draft Local Development Plan includes 58 new pitches across 15 existing sites in Purleigh, Cold Norton, Woodham Walter, Tolleshunt Major, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Great Braxted and Great and Little Totham.
Great Braxted Parish Council has written to the other seven parishes calling on them to work together to change the policy.
A district council spokesman said it wants to ensure fair and equal treatment for Travellers while respecting the interests of the settled community.
