From the News
A GROUP of Travellers moved on to land along a busy Portsmouth road.
The group is thought to have arrived on Friday night and were camped up all weekend.
Five caravans were on the site on Milton Common, along Eastern Road, opposite Stride Avenue.
Hampshire Constabulary said they were aware of the group but because the land is owned by the council, at this stage the matter would be between the council and the Travellers. Ward councillor Darren Sanders said: ‘This situation needs to be resolved as quickly as possible. I will be asking the council to take action to remove the Travellers.
‘Milton Common is a peaceful place and this is something that needs to be resolved.
‘Hopefully the Travellers can be moved on to a dedicated site.’
Portsmouth City Council said it was aware of the situation.
