Council To Look At Possible Amends To Draft Gypsy And Traveller Local Plan - Bedfordshire

From About My Area

Central Bedfordshire Council will consider changes to its draft Gypsy and Traveller Local Plan it was announced on Thursday, 5 September.

After receiving and working on consultation responses to the draft Plan, which includes changes to the list of sites, the council will consider an amended draft plan at its next Overview and Scrutiny Committee in October.

The pre-submission consultation on the draft Gypsy and Traveller Local Plan ended on 1 July. The analysis has been completed and from today a summary of the responses is available on the Council's web site (www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/gypsytravellerplan).

Cllr Nigel Young, Executive Member for Sustainable Communities (Strategic Planning and Economic Development) said: "We received a good number of representations about our draft Gypsy and Traveller Local Plan and we've listened and taken on board those responses. Some of these suggest some changes should be made to the Plan and the list of sites before we submit it to the Secretary of State."

"As a result, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee will examine the recommendations on 10 October before a decision is made by the Executive and Full Council."

The recommendations will be available on the council's website from 4pm on 26 September when the agenda for the Overview and Scrutiny Committee is made public. The draft plan and list of sites is still subject to legal advice and so will not be published before that date.
