Meet the Voice's big fat Gypsy superstar: Latest contestant of BBC talent show is a mother-of-three living in a caravan near Heathrow

From the Mail Online

Meet the 'Gypsy singer' who's set to wow the judges on BBC's The Voice.

Talia Smith, who currently lives in a caravan near Heathrow, had been due to perform as part of duo Travellin Rose, but was forced to go solo after her partner Kelly Lee pulled out.

Talia only started singing after having her third baby but says she has been boosted by the encouragement of her friends and family.

The pair had enjoyed some success together and even crossed the water to America in a bid to win over fans.

She said: 'I’ve a lot to thank the Gypsy community for as I pretty much lost all my friends when I moved in with Billy when I was just 16,

'They made me welcome and have encouraged me to sing.'
Talia, left, had been due to perform as part of the duo Travellin' Rose but her partner Kelly Lee, right, had to pull out at the last minute

And the mother-of-three is already said to have won a fan in judge Tom Jones.

A source told the Sun newspaper: 'Talia is a bona fide Traveller. She loves the life and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about Gypsies.

'She’s been a professional singer for a few years and has a great voice. It’s no surprise coach Tom Jones takes a bit of a fancy to her.'

The Voice UK continues next weekend on BBC One with the latest blind auditions show.

The series has now landed a own BB2 spin-off show which will be presented by Zoe Ball.

The half-hour programme will air at 6:30pm giving viewers their fix of behind-the-scenes gossip, interviews and performances.

Zoe said: 'I'm super excited to be involved in The Voice.

Fans can think of me as the nosey, naughty one who can ask questions we all want answering by their favourite acts and, of course, Kylie, Tom, will.i.am and Ricky.

'I shall bring everyone a little closer to the action, and I promise not to sing!'
