From the Derby Telegraph
DERBY'S permanent Travellers' site has been short-listed for a diversity and equality award.
Derby Homes, which runs Imari Park in Russell Street, has been announced as a finalist in three categories at the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Central Awards.
The awards recognise organisations and their workers in the Midlands which have had a significant impact on their communities.
Derby Homes has also picked up Tenant of the Year category nominations for Gill Young, who has served on the Derby Homes' tenant panel for three years and has taken part in six reviews of the way organisations operates, and Mick Vernon, who helped turn Sinfin Community Centre from risk of closure to a thriving, sustainable centre.
Meanwhile, Derby Homes' partner organisation, Oscar (Osmaston Community Association of Residents), has been nominated for the Excellence in Digital Engagement award after engaging over 190,000 people through Facebook and Twitter.
The winners of the Central Awards will be announced on March 7. They will then go forward to the TPAS national final, to be held later in the year, where they will compete against the winners of the Southern and Northern regional awards.
Maria Murphy, director of Derby Homes, said: "It is really encouraging to have been shortlisted in three categories. Working alongside residents is very important to Derby Homes and we value the contribution they make in improving the service we deliver."
