The group arrived in Daisy Bank Drive, St Georges on Sunday, bringing nine caravans and horses.
Telford & Wrekin Council today said that it was in discussions with the Travellers with the aim of clearing the site in the next couple of says.
Council spokeswoman Emily Knightley said: “We’ve been down and spoken to Travellers. We have advised them that they are on council-owned land and that they need to leave by the end of today.
“If they haven’t gone by tomorrow morning we will take action through the courts.”
The camp is the latest to have been set up in and around Telford.
At the end of last year, the town was plagued with Traveller camps for a week as they moved round the town’s industrial parks and shopping centres.
Sites used by the Travellers included the overflow car park at Aldi in Madeley Court Road, Madeley, just two weeks before it opened. Illegal camps also appeared next to Quality Industries Ltd, off Stafford Park 18, Stafford Park 12, the Ironbridge Park and Ride area, the Halesfield industrial estate.
Local business people have been forced to take measures to prevent the Travellers setting up camp near to their premises.
Tony Moore, from Dekura on Stafford Park 18, set up a line of huge sandbags along the roadside near to his business to stop Travellers moving in.
Firms said that it had cost them more than £3,000 to clear up after the Travellers had moved on.
