Action under way to move Travellers on from car park - Aberdeenshire

From the Evening Express

TRAVELLERS pitched up in a car park have been told court proceedings are under way to evict them.

More than a dozen caravans have parked up on land next to a sports park, off Panmure Gardens in Potterton.

Authorities have been helpless to move on the group, with Aberdeenshire Council unable to track the title deeds to the land.

But a spokeswoman from the council today confirmed it owns the land and a notice has been handed to each caravan advising court proceedings are under way.

A private hearing will be heard at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Mid-Formartine councillor Allan Hendry said: “A notice has been served to each of the Travellers that action has been instigated in court.

“They have been advised eviction proceedings have started.”
