Travellers will be forced to leave Amy Johnson site in west Hull

From the Hull Daily Mail

WEST HULL: Travellers will be removed from the Amy Johnson site, off Hawthorn Avenue, Hull City Council has confirmed.

The council was granted an Immediate Possession Order by Hull magistrates on Thursday, which will be served on the travellers on Monday.

This means the group will be forced to leave by the site earmarked for regeneration.

The group of about 30 caravans set up on the land earlier this week but the numbers are already dwindling and may all have left by the weekend.

This is the third time in just a few weeks, the council has had to turn to the courts.

The Amy Johnson site is now the fourth area the Travellers have moved to.

They first arrived at Millport Drive on the Boothferry estate a few weeks ago before heading to land close to Kelvin Hall School, off Bricknell Avenue in west Hull.

At the start of last week they moved to the site of the former Lambwath School, off Saltshouse Road, east Hull.

They arrived at Haltemprice Street on Friday last week before moving to their current location.
