Funding has been awarded to a project supporting Gypsies and Travellers in Aylesbury Vale by a council scheme.
A grant for £700 has been given to Parents and Children Together by the Aylesbury Community Chest to support Gypsies and Travellers who have housing related needs, are homeless or live in unsuitable accommodation.
The project also provides support in areas including substance misuse and domestic abuse.
Funding cuts meant it faced scaling back the service, but the grant means Gypsies and Travellers will continue to receive the specialist support.
Philip Cook, the project’s housing and homelessness manager, said: “This project provides valuable support to a community which is often marginalised and misunderstood.
“This specialist and culturally sensitive service is really important for Gypsies and Travellers to ensure they get the support they need to access safe, secure and suitable housing.
“I’d like to thank Aylesbury Vale Community Chest for providing the funding which allows us to continue this service.”
The Community Chest is run by Aylesbury Vale District Council and the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust.
