Public meeting plan over Attleborough Gypsy and Traveller site provision - Norfolk

From the Norwich Evening News

Civic leaders in Attleborough are planning to hold a public meeting to discuss Gypsy and Traveller site provision in the town.

Concerns have been raised by residents that up to 15 new Gypsy and Traveller pitches could be constructed in the area as part of Breckland Council plans.

Mayor Samantha Taylor told councillors at a meeting on Monday night that there was a lot of uncertainty over whether Attleborough was going to get extra pitches and more than 250 people had attended a meeting in the Connaught Hall last month.

Mrs Taylor said the town council needed to engage with the community, particularly on controversial issues. Dates in October are being looked at for the public meeting. However, fellow councillors said the meeting should only go ahead if representatives from all relevant parties are able to attend.

The town is earmarked for 4,000 new homes and 15 Gypsy and Traveller pitches under Breckland Council’s core strategy. However, an Attleborough and Snetterton Heath Area Action Plan (ASHAAP) has not yet been completed.

Landowners and businesses are concerned that the council is looking at a site in West Carr Road in Attleborough.
