Travellers didn’t stay long - Arbroath

From the Arbroath Herald

A GROUP of Travellers set up camp in Arbroath on Friday night behind the empty ‘call centre’ building at Kirkton Industrial Estate. However, their stay was short and they moved on early on Monday morning.

Councillor David Fairweather said he had received information that there were travellers on the site on Saturday and he immediately passed it on to Angus Council and Tayside Police, who were to monitor the situation.

Inspector Ally Robertson revealed that they had moved on at 6 a.m. on Monday. He commented: “We were aware of their presence but it is the responsibility of a private landowner who wishes to seek an eviction order to go through the civil courts. The local authority provides a Travellers’ site at Balmuir, near Tealing.”
