Ark Wins a Series of Gypsy & Traveller Assessments in Lincolnshire

From Ark Housing Consultancy

Ark Housing Consultancy has been appointed by no less than three local authorities in Lincolnshire to research Gypsy & Traveller pitch and site provision.

Following on from Ark’s appointment in January by East Lindsey District Council, Ark has now been appointed by South East Lincolnshire Strategic Planning Authority, made up of Boston Borough Council and South Holland District Council, to undertake a Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Housing Needs Assessment.

Both commissions will see Ark working directly with Gypsy and Traveller communities to investigate their needs in terms of pitch and site provision, which will ultimately provide robust evidence to support the planning policies being developed through the authorities respective Local Plans and for planning/enforcement applications and appeals. These pieces of work demonstrate East Lindsey District Council’s and South East Lincolnshire Strategic Planning Authority’s commitment to ensuring appropriate accommodation provision for Gypsies and Travellers within their locality.

Anne Shorland, Planning Policy & Housing Strategy Manager at East Lindsey District Council commented “we were impressed with Ark’s tender submission and they demonstrated a thorough understanding of our requirements”.

Colin Davis, the Ark Consultant leading both assessments commented “Ark holds a wealth of experience of undertaking research assignments to inform planning policy and engaging with hard to reach communities, including Gypsies and Travellers. We are well placed to provide advice around Gypsy and Traveller accommodation provision and I look forward to working with the respective local authorities in Lincolnshire”.
