Travellers moved on from Baddesley - Warwickshire

From North Warwickshire District Council

Safer Neighbourhoods Team steps in to prevent Travellers camping in Baddesley.

Travellers stopped from getting onto Baddesley Rec.

From the North Warwickshire East and North Safer Neighbourhoods Team

On Saturday 30th March, whilst dealing with off road motorcycles in Baddesley Ensor, PC Leon Carter 0382 and PCSO's Ashley Wynder 6231 and Mick Harle 6154 were alerted by a member of the public that a large number of Travellers were trying to gain access to Baddesley Recreation Ground. Due to a quick response the Safer Neighbourhoods Team were able to stop this from happening. Approximately 20 caravans brought the A5 and Boot Hill area to a stand still whilst SNT officers held all the Travellers back whilst awaiting back up from further units.

The situation could have escalated and Travellers could have accessed this site if not for the quick response of Safer Neighbourhoods Officers and the support of Incident Resolution Units. Local residents helped to make the site safe and secure from any likely return by the Travellers at a later date.
