TRAVELLERS who illegally set up camp at two car parks in Stourport have now left the sites.
About seven caravans were first pitched up in Vale Road car park on Monday last week to the shock of residents and local businesses, who were worried about the effect on trade.
The group then moved to Riverside car park last Friday after more travellers arrived and more than 30 caravans parked up there.
They moved from the Riverside car park on Monday, a day before Wyre Forest District Council was due to start legal action to force them to move and council officers have now cleansed the site.
John Campion, district council Leader, said: “We want to make sure that we engage with all of our communities and ensure that people act within the law.
“The one thing we want to ensure is that we support our businesses who rely on the Easter trade. We had staff out in force over the weekend making the best out of the situation.”
