Job Opportunities at the Travellers' Times

From the Rural Media Company

The Rural Media Company has secured 3 year funding from The Big Lottery Fund to continue and develop Travellers’ Times. The Travellers’ Times magazine and website www.travellerstimes.org.uk are the only national media for Gypsies and Travellers, and for agencies which work with theses communities. Rural Media now offers the following opportunities for talented and motivated individuals to join the team behind this highly regarded and authoritative UK wide print and online publication.


Marketing Officer (15 hours per week) to research and develop existing and potential new markets and increase advertising revenue from the magazine and website.

Salary scale: £23,000 per annum (pro rata)

Travellers’ Times Assistant 30 hours per week. Working in the Travellers’ Times office in Hereford city, the assistant will provide admin support to the team and assist with the production of features and stories for the website and magazine. Knowledge of the GRT community essential.

Salary scale: £9,575 -£12,304 per annum (pro rata)

Applications for an apprenticeship will be considered on a fulltime basis at the apprentice rate



Partnership and Development Officer 30 hours per week. Supervise and support the marketing officer, web co-ordinator and assistant. Maintain and develop relationships with partners and stakeholders. Co-ordinate editorial process and oversee distribution of the monthly e-newsletter and bi-annual magazine. Facilitate and support media training courses. Attend national conferences and events when required. Experience of working with GRT communities and a knowledge of diversity issues essential.

Web Co-Ordinator. 7.5 hours per week. Input with design and upload of the digital magazine. Create and upload advertisements. Upload and edit video and audio to the website.
