Gypsy site in Essington is blocked after families object - Staffordshire

From the Express and Star

A controversial application for a 15-pitch Gypsy caravan site have been thrown out by planning chiefs.

Councillors voted against plans for site site in Bursnips Road, Essington, at a planning meeting last night.

The plans also included a day room and seven utility blocks.

They were unanimously rejected by parish councillors last year and now South Staffordshire Council has done the same thing.

Councillor David Clifft said: “One-hundred-and-nineteen residents had written to the council objecting to the application saying that Essington had already got four Gypsy sites.”

It was refused on the grounds that the site was have encroached on green belt land.
