Hundreds expected at Traveller's funeral in Cambridge prompting traffic warning from police - Cambridgeshire

From Cambridge News

Hundreds of mourners are expected at a Traveller’s funeral in Cambridge today triggering a traffic warning from police.

The Cambridgeshire force will be putting extra officers to manage traffic which is expected to cause tailbacks near St Andrews Church, Chesterton.

Congestion is expected around Church Street before the service starts at 11am and police believe the area will be cleared by 1.30pm.

PCSO Louise Abbot said: “As most of you will be aware, the funerals that take place at the church are generally on a large scale which can cause some congestion in the surrounding streets.

“The mourners will be arriving from approximately 11am, and we envisage the area to be clear by 1.30pm. As usual, the bollard’s that are located on the junction of St Andrews Road and Elizabeth Way will be dropped to allow better access for residents and visitors.

“There will be police present at the funeral to help with flow of traffic, so should you experience any problems or require any directions or assistance please do let us know.”
