Police Visit Hertfordshire Travellers Sites In Search For Wanted Gunman

From 106jackfm

Detectives are visiting Travellers sites across Hertfordshire, as they search for Essex's most wanted man...
Police are urging gunman Francis O’Donoghue to hand himself in.

He's wanted for the attempted murder of two of his neighbours on the London border, after a shooting at a Travellers' site in Navestock on August the 27th.

Two men in their twenties are now recovering after being shot in the legs and chest, and undergoing surgery.

It's thought the incident was the culmination of an ongoing neighbourly feud and the 27 year-old could be hiding with friends or relatives somewhere in the county.

There have been several sightings from motorists and residents reported across the region.

Francis O’Donoghue is described as white, approximately 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build, has short-brown hair, has protruding ears and speaks with an Irish accent.

Essex Police’s Supt Trevor Roe told JACK fm: "Francis O’Donoghue has now been elevated to the force’s number one priority arrest. He is wanted for the attempted murder of two men and is potentially in possession of a handgun so everyone can see the necessity for him to be taken off the streets.

With this in mind, we need the community’s eyes and ears and urge them to call us with sightings so that we can act on the information and get him in. The support we have so far received from the public has been fantastic and they are providing us with leads so we thank them, but urge them to continue with the calls".

Anyone with information is warned not to approach Mr O'Donoghue, but to call '999'. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
