AROUND 30 caravans have pitched on Southwick Recreation Ground, Southwick.
The Herald initially received reports earlier today (Tuesday, July 3) that the travellers were camped on Adur Recreation Ground, Shoreham.
However, council leader Neil Parkin has now confirmed the Travellers are on Southwick Recreation Ground.
He said the group initially tried to get onto Adur Recreation Ground but moved on when Adur Watch officers arrived.
They are thought to have arrived on Southwick Recreation Ground at around 10.15pm.
He said the council would be taking civil action to reclaim the costs of any damage caused to council land.
