Kemptown MP calls for swift action on new Saltdean Traveller encampment site - Sussex

From gscene.com

Following the news that Travellers have occupied the popular Saltdean Oval in the Brighton Kemptown constituency, local MP Simon Kirby has raised the matter with the Chief Supt of Sussex Police, Graham Bartlett as well as the Chief Executive of Brighton and Hove City Council, John Barradell.

Simon said:
“This unauthorised encampment is clearly unacceptable and is preventing residents of Saltdean enjoying the valuable local amenity. This is particularly pertinent with the upcoming school holidays. Additionally allegations of criminal activity have been raised with me by concerned residents.”

He added:
“I have called on the Police and Council to take immediate action to move on this encampment, and will be continuing to press them until this matter is resolved. Sadly, yet again it is local residents who are left to pay the price for the Green Administration’s soft stance on unauthorised Traveller encampments.”
