Backford camp continues as motorhome to be crushed

From Chester First

A BIZARRE demonstration which has seen travellers pitch their tents next to a busy dual carriageway is now entering its third week, and showing no signs of relenting.

Prajna Pranab and Kazz decided to pitch their tents in protest outside the Auto-lift centre in Backford on July 6 after their motorhome, which had not been registered or taxed, was taken by the Chester company.

The Travellers have now been camped next to the Auto-lift centre for two weeks, and despite the fact that the vehicle is due to be destroyed today, they remain unwilling to co-operate or move on.

Prajna said: “If they try to destroy the van this Thursday we won't do anything but stand and witness their criminal act.

“Even if they do destroy it, we won’t go. We’ll stay and wait for a remedy for the harm they have caused us. There’s no question of leaving.”

A spokesperson from Auto-lift said: “Although the protesters have been here for a while now, it’s not something that’s directly affecting us.

“We’re up here just getting on with our day-to-day jobs, and they’re down there.
“If they don’t leave after their vehicle is destroyed on Thursday, I’m not sure what resolution there will be.”
