Kirklees Council will begin court proceedings to evict Travellers from a Batley car park tomorrow (Wednesday).
A small group of caravans moved to the Wards Hill car park in Wellington Street last Wednesday.
The same group previously camped at Healey Community Centre.
A court hearing will be held at Kirklees Magistrates Court tomorrow where the council will apply for a possession order to evict the travellers.
Coun Shabir Pandor (Lab, Batley West), Cabinet member for Resources, said: “Unfortunately, a possession order taken out for this site in October does not apply for this new group and new order is having to be applied for.
“However, we have acted as soon as possible to start the new court proceedings as this will deal with the issue as quickly as possible to benefit local residents and visitors to Batley.”
