Kirklees is seeking court action to evict Travellers who have pitched up camp in Littletown.
The group of around 10 caravans arrived at the council-owned Princess Mary playing fields car park, Bradford Road, on Monday night.
The council has confirmed that it is applying to the courts today for a possession order hearing.
