HARLOW Council have started legal proceedings against Travellers illegally camped out on land opposite St Marks Catholic School.
Up to 10 caravans have parked up on the council-owned plot of land on Tripton Road and the authority says it will do what it can to “protect the town’s green spaces”.
Councillor Emma Toal (Labour), portfolio holder for youth and citizenship, said: “We continue to follow the legal process and a hearing date of Wednesday 11 December 2013 for possession of the land has been obtained from the County Court today. Residents expect us to protect the town’s green spaces and uphold the law and this is what we are doing. In the meantime we will continue to work with the Police and monitor the situation.”
