Gypsies set up on city car park - Staffordshire

From the Sentinel

POLICE were called after Travellers set up camp on a car park.

Two caravans moved on to Hinde Street car park, Hanley, on Thursday night.

Officers attended and it is understood the gypsies have now moved out of the city centre.

Val Bourne, Stoke-on-Trent City Council assistant director for housing services, said: "No damage has occurred to the car park, and officers are currently improving barriers to control access. We understand that the Travellers have moved to a disused road outside the city centre."

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We were made aware of the incident at the top of Hinde Street car park just before 8am. Patrols attended and engaged the two caravans and people there."
