Travellers’ site at Tara Park near Malton is extended - Yorkshire

From the Press

A TRAVELLERS’ site in Ryedale has been expanded to include space for seven more families.

Funding for the project at Tara Park, on the edge of Malton, was provided by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) with support from Ryedale District Council and Yorkshire Housing, as part of a £47 million pot to help 71 projects across the UK.

The site’s existing 13 pitches have also been upgraded with new kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Council leader Linda Cowling said the authority was required by law to provide travellers’ accommodation, saying: “Tara Park is a well-run site and its upgrade and expansion meets the needs of Ryedale and ensures the district meets its target for the provision of these facilities.”

Yorkshire Housing has managed the project, with Helen Fielding, the HCA’S Leeds City Region and North Yorkshire area manager, saying: “We work with local authorities to make good places where people want to live and Tara Park is a great example of this.”
