Travellers occupying green belt land could be moved on if Epping Forest District Council is granted a High Court order.
On Wednesday the council will attempt to obtain permission to remove the Travellers who have lived on Birch Field in Epping Lane, Stapleford Tawney, since September.
The 73-strong group have occupied the land previously, but were moved on in 2006 after legal proceedings.
A High Court injunction and an Enforcement Notice currently exist on the land banning its use as a Traveller site, which the current group are aware they are in breach of.
