£20,000 spent dealing with Travellers in Aberdeen - Aberdeenshire

From the Evening Express

A TOTAL of £20,000 has been spent dealing with rogue Travellers, an Aberdeen City Council report revealed today.

Since the start of April last year Aberdeen has been hit by 57 unauthorised camps – a trend described as “unprecedented” in scale.

The details emerged as the officers brought forward proposals for a new site near the Bridge of Don and a temporary one at Granitehill Road in Northfield, Aberdeen.

Housing manager Martin Smith has recommended establishing a new permanent site on Scotstown Moor to the north of Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

However, because it wouldn’t be ready for two years a stopgap could be built at Granitehill Industrial Estate in Northfield, Aberdeen.
