Over £850,000 boost for borough’s Gypsy and Travellers site - Yorkshire

From The Eye

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council will consider the use of Traveller Pitch Funding (TPF) secured from the Homes and Community Agency (HCA) at its next Cabinet meeting on 29 January.

It comes after UK councils were invited to bid for their share of £60m of funding from the Governments national housing and regeneration agency.

Over £850,000 has been secured by the Council to carry out improvements to its permanent residential Gypsy and Travellers site at South Bank.

The work at the site will include creating five new pitches, increasing the current number from 13 to 18, as well as carrying out improvement and refurbishment works.

Lynn Pallister, Cabinet Member for Housing and Neighbourhood Renewal said:

“We are really pleased to have secured this funding from the HCA as it will enable further development and upgrading of the Gypsy and Travellers site, securing its long term future.”

“This initiative will make a real difference to the travelling community as well as help reduce unauthorised sites.”
