Royal Borough officers have recommended the proposed Travellers' site in Mill Place, Datchet, 'be dropped from further consideration'.
Officers cited policy constraints and strong residential opposition as their reasons for refusal.
The officers' report on the proposed site will be debated by the Royal Borough Planning and Housing Overview and Scrutiny Panel tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7pm at Town Hall, Maidenhead.
The panel will then present their findings to cabinet on January 24.
An e-petition on the Royal Borough website opposing the plans has received 746 signatures
