Aberdeen residents hit out over plans for Travellers’ site - Aberdeenshire

From the Evening Express

PROTESTING residents came out in force against plans for a Traveller site and accused a senior Abedeen councillor of betrayal.

Aberdeen City Council’s finance convener Willie Young took heated and angry comments from more than 150 of his constituents at a community council meeting in Bridge of Don.

In what was described as a “political u-turn,” residents hit out at the councillor over the proposed Traveller site planned by the local authority for the recycling centre on Scotstown Road in Aberdeen.

Cllr Young had previously joined forces with residents to object to plans in 2008, over the placing of a Traveller site at the same location.
