Exhibition gives young Gypsy/Travellers a voice - Aberdeenshire

Only a few days remain to see an exhibition that aims to raise awareness of Gypsy/Traveller issues on show at the Central Library, Rosemount Viaduct, Aberdeen.

"What A Voice", is a display produced by young Gypsy/Travellers in conjunction with Article 12 in Scotland which is a non-government organisation interested in issues which relate to young people.

Sandra Bruce, equalities strategist at Aberdeen City Council said: "Some of the key areas of debate around Gypsy Travellers are about halting sites, unauthorised encampments and associated environmental issues and the legal status of Gypsy/Travellers.

"The City Council actively promotes the need to eliminate discrimination and to encourage equality and this exhibition is an example of a pro-active approach to inform and raise awareness which will hopefully lead to a greater understanding of Gypsy/Travellers and their way of life."

The exhibition can be viewed in the Lending Library of the Central Library until Saturday 12 January.
