A traditional Gypsy caravan will be the spotlight of today's historic activity day being held in the Borough Gardens, Dorchester.
As part of Gypsy Roma Traveller history month, people are invited to find out more about the largest ethnic minority in the European Union with over 12million people part of its community.
The afternoon kicks of at midday, the free outdoor event will include the chance to take part in hands on traditional skills such as peg making, bender building and riding a horse drawn cart around the gardens.
Also Reverend Roger Redding will be conducting a Baptism for the son of Romany Gypsies, Leon and Melissa Rawlin, in an open air ceremony, his last before retiring as Chaplain this summer.
All members of the family are welcome, with mandolin music from Dave Rawlins, story telling from Michael Loader and a Forest Play Bus on hand to provide fun activities for younger children.
The aim of the event, organised by the South West Dorset Multicultural Network, is to raise awareness of these communites and reduce negative stereotyping.
Travelling communities in the UK are known as the most marginalised and continue to suffer from extreme levels of prejudice and discrimination.
