From Mayo Today

A new three-part documentary series which gives a unique insight into the lives of Travellers will air on CRC FM on Monday evening next June 25th at 8 o'clock.

The series, which is funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland "Sound & Vision Fund" will feature three 40-minute programmes that investigates a range of issues relating to the travelling community in the Mayo region and looks at areas of religion, Traveller culture and perception of the community in general.

The series actively incorporates the travelling community both in the production and presentation of the series and will give listeners a better understanding of the travelling community general.

The series is produced by Ronan Courell from Castlebar and he says that the programmes aims to educate the settled community on the various elements of traveller life in Ireland.

"In the main the travelling community are very much hands-on in the production of the programme and I think that this is the first time that such an idea has surfaced. It makes for very interesting listening and I hope that the general public will tune in"

The first programme co-incides with Traveller Pride Week which aims to promote the cultures, traditions and concerns of the travelling community in Ireland.

Tune in to CRC FM on 102.9 fm this Monday evening at 8pm and find out more about traveller life in the region.
