MeridenGypsy site campaigner linked with West Midlands Police commissioner job

From the Coventry Telegraph

A CAMPAIGNER against a Travellers’ site in Meriden wants to become the West Midlands’ first Police Commissioner.

David McGrath, 52, a former Birmingham City Councillor, is the third person to declare an intention to stand as a Conservative Party candidate.

Mr McGrath has led a campaign against a group of travellers who set up in Eaves Green Lane, Meriden, in April 2010.

After countless court hearings and a round the clock protest that has lasted more than 700 days campaigners secured a court order telling the Travellers to leave by March 2013.

Mr McGrath spent eight years in politics before quitting in 1996.
