Travellers set up camp in Findon Valley - Sussex

A GROUP of Travellers have set up camp on land at The Gallops, in Findon Valley.

Maggie Winter, from Findon Valley Residents Association, called the Herald to say the unauthorised campers began moving onto the site earlier today (Tuesday, June 19).

She said: “The Gallops are part of the South Downs National Park and is open access land for the public to enjoy.

“The Travellers are camped across a bridle path and have set up dog kennels, chicken coops and washing lines.”

Mrs Winter said there are about 15 caravans currently at the site.

In 2009, Travellers set up camp on The Gallops, before moving to Cissbury Ring where an eviction order was served.
