Travellers back in Cog Lane - Lancashire

From the Burnley Express

TRAVELLERS have again appeared on land in Cog Lane, South-West Burnley.

Up to 30 caravans arrived on a stretch of empty land around a quarter of a way up Cog Lane from Accrington Road on Wednesday night.

Residents who contacted the Express said they believe the caravans belong to the same group of Travellers who set up camp on the nearby Hargher Clough recreation ground in April this year.

A Burnley Borough Council spokesman said: “An officer will be going out on Thursday morning to investigate and speak to the Travellers.

“We need to establish whether the land is privately-owned or ours before we take appropriate action. We will then ask them to leave and if they don’t we will go through a legal process of getting a possession order.”
