From the BBC

Three men have been shot at a Travellers' site in Cambridgeshire.

Armed police were called to Oxney Road, in Peterborough, shortly after 10:00 BST.

Det Insp Dave Grierson, from Cambridgeshire Police, said the shootings were being treated as an "isolated incident".

An air ambulance took one person to hospital. The injured men are thought to be aged in their 50s.

East of England Ambulance Service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "Three men were treated at the scene for ballistic type injuries, two of which are deemed serious."

Police appealed for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.

Mr Grierson said: "We believe those responsible for this shooting may have used a vehicle to travel to and from the site.

"At this stage we are treating this as an isolated incident and inquiries are continuing to trace those responsible."

Armed police and investigating officers remain at the scene.

Magpas Helimedix, an emergency medical charity, said one of the men suffered "serious abdomen and thigh injuries".

Another man sustained injuries to his left arm and back, while a third man had a leg injury.
