From the Royal Borough Observer
THE long-running saga over construction and extension of Traveller's sites in Datchet, Horton and Waltham St Lawrence is to continue to rumble on.
A decision was taken at a meeting of the Royal Borough's Planning and Housing Overview and Scrutiny Panel last night (Monday) that the decision on an extension to the site at Mill Place, Datchet be deferred.
The report submitted to the panel also suggested removing mooted plans for the construction of sites at Pickin's Piece, Horton and Pool Lane, Waltham St Lawrence, but a decision on this was also deferred.
Councillor George Bathurst, Panel member, said at the meeting: "The report still needs more work before we make a decision. The policy needs to be more robust with regard to the Human Rights Act sections 8 and 14.
"It also feels as if the three suggested sites unfairly discriminate against one area of the Borough and the burden needs to be spread."
The report recommended that the green light be given to a consultation and technical appraisal of the Datchet site with the sites in Horton and Waltham St Lawrence be dropped from further consideration.
However, the decision on which recommendation the Panel will make to the Royal Borough Cabinet with regard to the three sites will take place at the next meeting of the Panel on Tuesday, October 9.
