Travellers move on to Ham Common - Dorset

From the Daily Echo

TWO groups of Travellers moved onto the viewpoint bordering Ham Common at Hamworthy, Poole yesterday evening.

The 14 caravans are close to Rockley Park and the RM Poole base and near the SSSI of Ham Common and are being monitored by Borough of Poole.

Jeff Morley, regulatory services team manager, Borough of Poole said: “Fourteen Traveller caravans, a camping van and one tent are currently located in the car parking area adjacent to Rockley Park.

“We are regularly visiting the site to provide refuse sacks, assess the behaviour of the travellers and reduce any impact on the local area, including Rockley Park.”

It is believed the two sets of Travellers do not know each other and are not the same group who recently occupied a site at Creekmoor. They have left the area.
