From the Coventry Telegraph
A public meeting is being held tonight to discuss plans for a permanent Gypsy camp in south Warwickshire.
It has been organised by the owners of the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre near Leamington whose land has been earmarked as one of 20 potential sites.
Warwick District Council says it is required by law to find 31 permanent Traveller pitches over the next 15 years.
It is likely the pitches will be spread over six sites. Protesters will tonight hand an economic impact study to MP Jeremy Wright and local councillors which says local businesses will suffer if the centre is chosen as a camp location.
The meeting is being held at the centre, on the Fosse Way near Radford Semele, from 7pm.
Many residents from the neighbouring villages of Radford, Ufton and Harbury are expected to attend.
They say there has been no adequate explanation as to why the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre is on the shortlist when the area was rejected for housing last year.
Other potential Gypsy sites include a field off Siskin Parkway East, Toll Bar End, near Coventry; Kites Nest Lane, in Beausale, near Kenilworth, where an illegal Traveller camp was set up in 2011, and land next to Warwick Racecourse.
Public consultation on the plans ends on July 29.
