From the Western Wards Gazette
Residents in the Western Wards are being urged to have their say on a new council policy that nominates sites for Gypsies, Travellers and travelling Showpeople.
The Fareham Council policy proposes five additional pitches to be considered across two existing sites – doubling the number of pitches at The Retreat in Newgate Lane from two to four, and increasing the number of pitches from two to five at land near 302A Southampton Road in Titchfield.
The policy outlines the criteria by which planning applications for these sites are considered.
Fareham Borough Council’s consultation will run until the end of July 22.
Executive Member for Strategic Planning and Environment, Councillor Keith Evans, said: “It will be helpful to receive constructive feedback that can help inform decisions regarding the suitability of providing additional pitches on these existing sites.”
“Alternative sites will be considered in order to ensure the overall requirements are met. The Council would welcome suggestions from private landowners who may be able to identify a site to help meet this need.”
Paper copies and different formats of the consultation materials are available at the Civic Office and libraries in Fareham or on 01329 236100.
Consultations can be submitted by completing the online survey www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations.
