Travellers sent bill for park rubbish - London

From Radio Jackie

Travellers who temporarily pitched up in a Hampton Wick park will be sent a bill for the clean up of the waste they left behind.

On Saturday the 4th of May, Richmond Council received reports of Travellers illegally gaining access to Langdon Park.

As per normal practice, the Council started legal proceedings for an eviction order following the Bank Holiday.

In the meantime, Police negotiated an amicable move, and Travellers left the park on Tuesday night.

However, following their departure, Council officers found rubbish and debris left on the site.

Officers made arrangements for the waste to be removed.

However, there is a cost attached to that and the Council will be sending an invoice for the cleaning work to the registered keepers of the vehicles reported on the park
