MAGDALEN: Site for caravans set to be rejected - Norfolk

From Lynn News

Plans to change part of a business to a Travellers’ site will be discussed by councillors at a meeting on Monday.

Applicant Tom Taylor wants to change the use of part of his land on Magdalen High Road, Magdalen, to provide three Traveller pitches alongside.

But, in a report to West Norfolk Council’s planning committee, officers recommended the application is refused.

The equine business includes stables and paddocks along with two mobile caravans and one static and the report said: “None of these works benefits from planning consent.”

Full planning consent is sought to change the use of part of Spriggs Hollow to a gypsy/Traveller site associated with the equine business.

Each pitch would be served by an amenity block including kitchen and shower room enclosed by a low brick wall.

The report states that the application does not relate to the unauthorised equine development of stables and storage buildings across the remainder of the site.

But officers concluded there was “no overriding need for the development”, given recent site approvals.
