From the Evening Express
TRAVELLERS have called for more permanent, official halting sites as a way to stop illicit camps.
Aberdeen City Council officers had identified a location for a permanent site at Scotstown Road, to the north of the Bridge of Don.
But the proposal met with resistance from local residents and council bosses are now said to be considering an alternative solution outwith the city boundaries.
And members of the Travelling community believe a permanent site is the right option to deal with the ongoing issue.
Settled Traveller Donald Stewart, 43, who has lived on the permanent site at Clinterty since 2010, believes Travellers would prefer sites away from city centres.
